-Blower Doesn’t Turn Off – Always Running
Sometimes the fan continues to circulate air even when the burner is off and the air is cold. This is usually caused by one of two things. Either the thermostat is set to ‘Fan Continuous’ – or (on furnaces that do not have fan settings at the thermostat) the fan limit control switch at the furnace is set to fan continuous or it is malfunctioning.
1. First, check your thermostat and see if there is a ‘Fan Continuous’ setting (look on the thermostat for a switch setting or -if it is digital- in the menu). Reset the setting to ‘Heat’.
2. Look at the furnace control (on the actual furnace) and find the furnace fan limit switch. Reset the limit switch – if that doesn’t work, you will have to replace the furnace limit switch.
